(2021) Initiated during my residency at La Box, Bourges.
Safety Nets (Il a enfoui la corde en coups / He buried the rope in blows). Recordings, installations and photographs in parallel to written fragments, 8 tracks assembling movements of weights and envelopes structuring the places that have hosted me. The title refers to
an anecdote shared by Alain Corbin in Village Bells: The Culture of the Senses in the 19th-C. French Countryside (trad. 1998). For fear that his parishioners would reach and activate the village bell after the national ban on its use, a priest cut its rope into pieces and buried them around the church.
These works led to a series of textile pieces and a performance produced in collaboration with costume designer and performer Élise Ehry: Énervations.
This ensemble is partly featured in a publication of the same name, produced at the end of the residency.
Safety nets, faux-plafonds (diptychs: photographs, semi-matt prints, 50x74 cm).
